I had a rough day yesterday. It happens to all of us from time to time. I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself because things aren’t going exactly the way that I envisioned them. I hate it when I start spiraling down into that “dark place.” You know what I mean. It happens when I “think too much!” I try to over-analyze and “work out a plan,” when what really needs to happen is – I need to “let go and let God” take care of things.
One of my favorite verses is Psalm 46:10. This is where the Lord said, “Be still and know that I am God.” “Be still!” How many times have we told our children to “be still!” Being still is hard! It requires a concentrated effort to control ourselves. But, it allows us to step back, take a deep breath, and let the worries and cares of this life go. It’s the reason why we can “say our prayers at night and go to sleep” because we know that God’s going to be up all night anyway – He’s got this! Jesus said, “Peace, I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). He’s got this! Paul told the church in Philippi, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). We might not understand the “Why?” or the “How?”, but we can rest assured that God, our heavenly Father is working things out in the best way possible.
Yes, sometimes, we just need to “Be still and know that He is God.” Simply blessed, Courtney
Short and sweet!! But so powerful!! Love it and will “ponder” on this today. God bless us both.
