If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! How many times have we heard this one? Then, when others do succeed, we think – “Oh, they just got lucky!” But Friends, our lives don’t get better by chance, they get better by change! I believe that, don’t you? So, why is it so hard to change? Oh, we talk about the changes that we need to make – “I need to lose a few pounds.” “I’m going to start exercising. . .”, but what has to happen in order to make us “do something about it?”
I believe that we have to come to that “Aha” moment. Something will happen, and it clicks – we know that we never want to be in this position again! We have to basically get “disgusted” that we’ve allowed ourselves to ever get “this way” in the first place, and we have to make “the decision.” What are we going to do about this issue that we’re having? Step one in making a change is to make the decision to change. Sound easy? Think again.
Some have such a problem making a decision, we may think that that’s the hard part, but, alas – taking action is so much harder. Now, on the first day, it’s easy to get up and go to the track and walk – you’re up before the alarm goes off. You stick to your diet plan. You’ve got this! Day 2 – You’re a little sore, but when the alarm goes off, you get up and go. I mean, the shoes are by the bed! But, whew – you’ve found muscles that you didn’t know existed! One soda won’t hurt -right? Then, Day 3 comes, and after hitting the snooze button twice – you just turn it off, roll over, and go back to sleep – “It’s okay to skip a day now and then, right?” At least, that’s what we tell ourselves. But, without action – continual, consistent action – we’ll never get those results that we’re seeking, for winners don’t do different things – they just do things differently!
When life gets tough (and it will), and we think about quitting (and we will), we need to ask ourselves, “Why did I start in the first place?” Think about how it felt to know that you were doing what you needed to do. How did it feel to get compliments? One of my favorite thoughts is: You didn’t come this far – to just come this far! Hang in there! You’ve got this! Simply blessed, Courtney
