The Prayer God Cannot Answer

Last night Steve had a excellent lesson on prayer, and he brought up the fact that there is one prayer that God cannot answer. What? Now, that really caught my attention. I mean God is all knowing, all powerful – He can answer any prayer! But, then I realized what he meant – God can’t answer a prayer – not prayed.

Think about it. Just as we shower our children with love and things that we “think” they’d enjoy, how much easier is it when we’re able to get them something that they ask for. Every year I ask – “What would you like for your birthday? What do you want for Christmas?” It’s wonderful when we know that we’ve “hit the mark” and are fulfilling a need or a dream. In the same way, God, our heavenly Father wants to grant us things that we want or need. Jesus said, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). Micah learned, “Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me” (Micah 7:7). Friends, God can hear you, too. We are told to, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16). Our prayers can be answered, but only if they are prayed.

May you do some soul searching – and, say your prayers! Simply blessed, Courtney
