Today is November 7th!!! It’s a very special day to me because I was baptized into Christ on November 7th, 1972! That year – it was a Tuesday night of our gospel meeting in my home congregation in Bolivar, Tennessee. Add that up, folks – as of today, I have literally been a Christian for 50 years! Isn’t that awesome???
When I think back over the choices that I’ve made in my life – becoming a Christian definitely tops the list because it determined so many other choices. I married Steve, my high school sweetheart, and became a preacher’s wife. I chose to be a “stay at home” mother while my girls were young. When I did enter the work force, I chose jobs that allowed me to make a difference in the lives of others. That decision influenced the way I talk, the clothes I wear, the places I go, and what I do when I get there! As a Christian, I choose my friends wisely, and I’ve been blessed with such an amazing church family, far and near. I’ve taught so many Bible classes, spoken at Ladies’ Days and retreats, written Bible class material, and created my scripture writing schedule. This blog exists because of that decision so many years ago.
I can’t believe that I’ve been a Christian for half of a century! May I ever “take up my cross and follow Him” (Luke 9:23), for I am longing for the day when I hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21). Simply blessed, Courtney
I have had Jesus as my Lord and savior for 60 years. It is a wonderful feeling not to have to not worry where you will spend eternity.
Happy Baptism Birthday, Courtney!
