Home, Sweet Home

We’re home! Isn’t it amazing how after you’ve been on a trip, it’s so wonderful to finally be back home! Steve and I went on a lovely cruise out of New Orleans to Key West and the Bahamas last week. For the most part, the weather was in the 70’s, the hot tubs were wonderful, the food was delicious, and we walked miles each day, sometimes not even getting off the ship! We each started and finished a book, and we played a lot of Yahtzee! We were waited on and pampered. Basically, we were spoiled!

But, of course, the most best part was the wonderful, interesting people that we met. On Sunday, we had just taken our carry-on bags to the room and was in crowded lobby waiting for an elevator, when a woman came up to me, calling me by name. I asked, “Who are you?” Would you believe that it was one of my Park Lane customers who recognized me from my “lives,” but someone that I didn’t know. It ends up that her husband attended the Memphis School of Preaching years after we were there, and we knew a lot of the same people. We had such a lovely time, spending the week with them. At our dining table – there were four couples – all four of us were members of the church? We also sat with a couple one day at brunch from Alabama, who were members of the church. It seemed like everywhere we went, we were reminded that God places people where He sees the need. We were certainly blessed last week by the fellowship of other Christians.

But, back to the beginning – it’s so good to be HOME! Before you leave to go on vacation, you just can’t wait to “get away,” but it doesn’t take too many days and you are dreaming of sleeping in your own bed. Are you looking forward to going to our eternal home? Jesus told his disciples in John 14, “In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And whither I go, ye know and the way, ye know” (John 14:2-4). He is preparing that “eternal home” for us. May you live your life in such a way that heaven will be your home! It will be so good to “be HOME!” Simply blessed, Courtney
