Aiden has been here since Tuesday because he is on spring break. He has to go home tomorrow, so this is his last full day. He woke up a few minutes ago and said, “Hey, Gammy – how about we have a “Pajama Day” today?” “Okay – what would you like to do today?” He is making a list – so far, we’re staying in our pajamas, eating pizza, and watching a movie that neither of us has ever seen. We started out the morning with a prayer. Sometimes we all need to take a step back – take a deep breath – and say our prayers. We need time to regroup and refresh.
There were times when Jesus did the same. After He was baptized, He withdrew into the wilderness for forty days. He was then tempted by Satan, He was ready to begin His ministry (Luke 4:1-2; 14-15). When He had big decisions to make, like before He chose His twelve apostles, He spent the night in the mountains praying (Luke 6:12-13). When He learned about the death of His cousin, John, the Baptizer, He went away by Himself to grieve (Matthew 14:1-13). There were times that He just needed to pray and He escaped the crowds and withdrew to the mountains (Luke 5:16). Of course, we know that in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the night of His betrayal, He left his apostles and went further into the garden to pray (Luke 22:41).
So, if you knock on my door today, don’t be surprised to find me and Aiden in our pajamas! No, we’re not sick – we’re just enjoying our day! Today is going to be a GREAT DAY! Simply blessed, Courtney
