Roadblocks

As most of you know, I sell Park Lane jewelry as my full-time job. I know – standing in my basement usually in yoga pants and house shoes “slingin’ bling” is a crazy way to make a living, but you know the saying, “Somebody’s gotta do it – so it might as well be me!” As a small business owner in the direct marketing world, I’ve had to get a “tougher skin” and learn to not take it personally when someone tells me “No, I’m not interested.” It could mean that they will never be interested or that “no” could mean “not now.”

This spring, Park Lane is giving their stylists the opportunity to earn a trip to Paris, France. And while I’m currently 82% there, there seem to be roadblocks everywhere. But just when I was feeling despair, I come across a quote that said, “There are more roads than roadblocks.” Don’t you love that? No matter how many things seem to be in the way to achieving your goal, there are always additional paths, if we look for them. This is true when it comes to temptations. Paul told the church in Corinth, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” When we’re tempted – there is a road out, but we have to look for it. Paul had a “thorn in the flesh (II Corinthians 12:7), but he didn’t let that “road block” stop him from declaring, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (II Timothy 4:7). Do you have a hard time forgiving yourself and moving on? Satan can use guilt as a road block, but even though Peter did the one thing he swore he wouldn’t do when he denied Christ (Luke 22:61-62), he was able to move forward as the “road” to preaching the first gospel sermon on the Day of Pentecost opened up for him.

Friends, there are more roads than roadblocks! God will provide a way. Simply Blessed, Courtney
