As most of you know, last August we added a new member to our family, our papillon puppy, Rosie (well, actually, Nosey Rosie – for obvious reasons! She’s always getting into something!). It had been over 20 years since we had a puppy in the house and we’d never gotten one so young. Our Sadie was five months old when we got her all those years ago, and we had no idea what an impact this little four pound bundle of energy would have on our lives. She is now nine months old and weighs over eight pounds. I woke up this morning thinking about how things have changed since Rosie became part of our family.
At first, we had to start from scratch, as far as training her. It was TOUGH! But, you know – when we are baptized into Christ, we start over! It’s a brand new beginning. Our Christian journey has just begun, and there are times when it’s HARD! With Rosie, even when she makes “mistakes,” it doesn’t mean that I love her any less. She gets corrected, and as time goes on, those “mistakes” are becoming less frequent for she loves the treats that she gets for being “good.” In the same way, our heavenly Father loves us no matter what we do. He still sent His Son to die for us (John 3:16). As we grow as Christians, we are rewarded with fellowship and the opportunities to worship and serve with our church family here on earth, as we lay up “treasure in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-21) Now, Rosie does require care – she needs food and water daily. God gave us His Word, the Bible, where He corrects us as we study and learn. Are you, like the Bereans, “searching the Scriptures daily to see if these things are so” (Acts 17:11)? Rosie is my constant companion- she follows me everywhere I go. She is even now, curled up on the arm of the chair beside me. I love knowing that – I, also have a constant companion with God, for He hath said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5b).
Miss Rosie is my companion and friend. She is such a blessing in my life. Do you have a “friend in Jesus?” Simply blessed, Courtney
