“It Hurts Me More Than It Hurts You”

Every good Momma has been known to say, “This hurts me more that it hurts you!” Now this was usually said when she’s about to have what I call a “Come to Jesus Discipline Moment,” As a child, I’d always think, “Yeah, right!” But as a Momma – I came to understand how true it was. I always tried to let the girls know what expectations I had for their behavior. I didn’t delight in them behaving in such a way that they needed discipline. It hurt me to see them hurt, but I loved them too much to allow them to behave in such a way that might have grave consequences, if it continued. I wanted them to learn what was not acceptable behavior.

Think about it – God is our heavenly Father. He has told us His expectations for our behavior in His Word. Are you obeying or causing Him pain? He wants us to behave in such a way that heaven will be our home. He can’t have anything to do with sin, and when we sin, we are separated from God. How that must hurt Him, but He has to allow us to suffer the consequences of our actions. Hopefully, we, also, will learn what “not” to do.

Yes, Momma was right – it did hurt Momma more because she was so disappointed by wrongs that her child had done. May we not bring God such heartache. God Bless, Courtney
