The Sunshine

I don’t know how the weather is in your “neck of the woods,” but in Southeast Missouri – the SUN IS SHINING! Of course, it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, but the SUN IS SHINING! The way the weather affects a person’s mood is individual to that person. Some people enjoy watching it snow. Others are counting down the days until spring arrives. We know that rainy days contribute to sadness and depression. Atmospheric pressure can make a difference on your nerves and joints, causing additional pain – which then, can lead back to lack of energy and depression. But, it’s hard to feel down when it’s so beautiful outside. The sunshine warms us.

In the same way, when we are far from Christ and living in continual cloudy days, we don’t have those precious promises, including that “He will never leave us or forsake us” (Hebrews 13:5b). We don’t have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). One who is outside of the church doesn’t have others to pray for them and with them, for we know that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16b). If we’re trying to make a difficult decision, God has promised, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5). Oh, the blessings that come with being a child of God!

The sunshine may come and go, but oh, that SONSHINE – how it warms the spirit. Simply blessed, Courtney
