Attitude of Gratitude

Thanksgiving – it’s what you make it! This year, I asked our employees what they’d like to have for our Thanksgiving Dinner. I offered turkey and dressing or even pizza. One employee raised her hand and asked, “Can we have Subway?” “Subway? Really?” Well, we took every employee’s order and yesterday, we all enjoyed Subway sandwiches for lunch! And we were very thankful!

I know that due to the pandemic, Thanksgiving may be different for a lot of folks this year. We may not be “gathering together” with large traditional family groups or having a “Friendsgiving” with our family of friends, but just because the holiday may be celebrated in a different way, doesn’t mean that we don’t have just as many, if not more reasons to be thankful. This year, we have been given the opportunity to practice our cooking with all of the restaurants closed. We’ve been given the opportunity to realize how important the human touch is from those that we love, after being denied access to our loved ones in nursing homes and hospitals. We’ve probably read a few more books, watched a few more movies, and played way too many games on our phones or computers while quarantined at home. Let’s face it – it’s been a crazy year, but we’re still here for a reason, and our attitude should be one of gratitude.

May you “count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done!” Simply blessed, Courtney
