Forever

Steve and I had the “joy” of being tested for the COVID19 virus today. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that the frontal lobe of my brain was swabbed! No, actually, it wasn’t that bad – just a little uncomfortable for a few seconds. Of course, while it was being done – those few seconds seemed to last forever!

The Bible actually has a lot to say about the term forever. Isaiah proclaimed, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever” (Isaiah 40:8). We know that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever” (Psalm 111:10) When Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray, He declared, “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen” (Matthew 6:13). And one of the most comforting verses is I Thessalonians 4:17, “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. “

Yes, “and the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (I John 2:17). We must, “give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever” (I Chronicles 16:34). “To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever” (I Peter 5:11). We most certainly are simply blessed, Courtney
