“Help! I’m Stuck!”

Stuck! Have you ever been stuck? This afternoon, after eating a good lunch, I settled down in my recliner for “a long winter’s nap!” (Well, I guess I should say “a long Spring’s nap!) Anyway, I fell asleep and fell asleep hard! When I woke up, Steve was nowhere to be seen. I reached down to lower my recliner – and it didn’t move! Oh, my – have you ever tried to get out of an electric recliner that’s laid back as far as it goes? It’s harder than you think! Unknown to me – evidently I’d been stuck for a while. I was STUCK! Finally, I crawled out, and I realized that my lamp didn’t work, and the aquarium filter wasn’t on either. I went out and hit all the breakers – that didn’t work. I turned the power strip off and on – that didn’t work. I fiddled with the cords, finally coming to the realization that the cord had become loose from the plug-in under the entertainment center. This required cleaning out a large cabinet, bending and stretching in ways that required more effort than it should have, just so I could finally fix the issue. Whew! I was worn out all over again!

Have you ever been stuck in a life of sin? At first, you might not even be aware that the life that you are leading is not pleasing unto God. But, when you learn the truth, it’s up to you to do what needs to be done in order to “follow in His steps” (I Peter 2:21b). You might have to do your research and “study to show yourself approved unto God” (II Timothy 2:15). You might have to “clean out” some parts of your life that are holding you back. Whatever it takes to make things “right” with the Lord – that’s what you need to do.

Just because you’ve gotten yourself “stuck,” it doesn’t mean that you have to stay that way. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11). If you find yourself drifting back in the wrong direction, remember – God allows “U-Turns.” Simply blessed, Courtney
