Broken Crayons

My five year old grandson is visiting. Every minute is an adventure! We’ve been up since a little after 6:00 am! We’ve already been outside “target practicing” with our “massive water gun” and our cap pistol. A few minutes ago, I told him that I needed to come in and do my “Bible writing” and work on the computer, so he decided that he’d do his “office work,” too. He got out his “office” basket full of his construction paper, crayons, scissors and stapler, etc. . . – it was time for serious work!

He started getting frustrated that his dark blue crayon didn’t “show up” on black construction paper. So, I asked – “Do you have any light crayons, like white or peach?” He said, “Yes, but the white is broken.” I replied, “Try it – it still works even though it’s broken.”

This got me to thinking how all of us are broken in one way or another. None of us are perfect. Some of us have done things that we may think are unforgiveable, but God can take the broken pieces of our lives and paint a beautiful picture. Micah asks the question in Micah 7:10, “Who is a God like You, Who pardons sin…?” We know that if we “confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9) It reminds me of that song, “Bring Christ Your Broken Life – so marred by sin. He will create a new – make whole again!” Thank you, Lord! God Bless! Courtney
