“Use Us”

Do you say your prayers before you get out of bed in the mornings? I always heard that prayer should be the key that unlocks the day and locks up the night. Many people say their “bedtime prayers,” but do you take the time to pray before you start the day? I set the alarm a little early, just so I can “hit the snooze” an extra time. I find that it’s a wonderful way to start the day.

At night time or even during my drive time (which is one of my favorite times to pray), I usually pray for others. I pray for Steve, David and Dianne, Susan and Jeff, and of course, my Aiden. I pray for my Mother, my sisters and the rest of our families. I pray for my church family – our elders, deacons, Bible class teachers, and each lady in my Ladies’ Bible class. I pray for those that have surgeries scheduled or are having cancer treatments. I pray for those that are sad or lonely. I pray for our military and first-responders. I pray for those who have never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel and for those who have heard, but they’ve turned away from the truth.

But my “before I get out of bed” prayers in the mornings are mainly about myself. I pray for forgiveness of my sins. I pray that I will be a godly example for all that I meet today. I pray that I will have a positive attitude, and “my light will shine in such a way that others will see my good works and glorify my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16) I pray for my attitude. I often focus on one aspect. This morning, all I could think of was “Use me, Lord.” It was a simple prayer – only three words, but I was humbled all day. I tried to speak a little kinder, listen with my heart and not just with my ears, and do my best to be the best I could be.

Yes, my Friends, may we all be willing vessels for the Lord’s work. “Use us, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” God Bless, Courtney
