“How Dare They!”

Have you ever worked oh so hard to accomplish something, and then someone else takes the credit? How did it make you feel? Did you get angry? Did you feel betrayed? Were you able to move on?

No matter why you “think they did what they did,” there is no way to truly know someone else’s heart. The only thing that you can control is you and your reaction. Controlling our emotions is one of the most difficult tasks that we face. Our “human side” seeks revenge when we’ve “been done wrong.” We want them to “pay”, but as Paul urged the Romans, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves; but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay says the Lord.'” (Romans 12:19 ESV) The Lord knows all things, and sometimes, we just have to leave it in His hands. But – man, it’s hard!

First of all, as in all instances, we must pray for guidance and wisdom. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given unto him.” (James 1:5 KJV) Then, often, when something happens, I’ll ask myself the question, “Will me saying something (which I may or may not regret), make a difference in what happens a year from now? Is the event really something that I need to address or can I just “Bless their hearts” and move on? Will me “taking a stand,” whether I’m right or wrong, influence others in a positive light?” We must remember Who’s sons and daughters we are.

Others are watching to see how we will act and react. May we “show ourselves in all respects to be a model of good works, and in our teaching, show integrity, dignity.” (Titus 2:7 ESV) God Bless you, my Friends, Courtney
